Valdas Dambrauskas: We were not considered favorites when we started this journey
Sabah will face Israeli club Hapoel Be'er Sheva in the UEFA Champions League play-off round.
Operativ Media reports that Sabah head coach Valdas Dambrauskas shared his thoughts on the match during the pre-game press conference:
"Of course, the play-off round brings special excitement. Our club will compete at this stage for the first time in its history, and we are eagerly looking forward to this match. I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Hapoel Be'er Sheva on reaching the play-offs. One of the teams will make history by qualifying for the main stage of the Champions League.
When we started this journey, we were not considered favorites; we were always the underdogs. The same could be said about our opponents. However, through our hard work, our quality, and the performance displayed by our players, we proved that we deserve to be here.
Now, a very interesting match awaits us because two very similar teams will face each other. Both teams like to press, control the game, and dominate. Both prioritize attack first, with defense being secondary.
Let's see what awaits us tomorrow. We traveled here from Baku, we will have our training session, and all our players are in good health. We are ready for tomorrow's match."
