Aston Villa strengthens squad with two new signings
English club Aston Villa has bolstered its squad by signing goalkeeper Zion Suzuki and defender Matteo Ruggeri.
Operativ Media reports that the financial terms and details of the contracts signed with both players have not yet been disclosed.
The previous contract of 23-year-old Japanese goalkeeper Zion Suzuki, who was transferred from Italian club Parma and ran until June 30, 2029, has been terminated. According to football insider Fabrizio Romano, the deal is worth €35 million, including add-ons. Transfermarkt estimates the goalkeeper's market value at €30 million. Suzuki conceded 30 goals in 19 appearances for the Italian side during the 2025/2026 season.
According to The Athletic, the transfer fee for 24-year-old Italian defender Matteo Ruggeri, signed from Atlético, was €20 million. His contract with the Madrid club was originally valid until June 30, 2030. Ruggeri contributed seven assists in 47 matches last season. Transfermarkt currently values the player at €28 million.
