Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Samir Sharifov visited Uzbekistan on August 19.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs informing Operativ Media, the deputy minister was received by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Bakhtiyor Saidov, during the visit.

During the meeting, the sides discussed issues arising from the strategic alliance between the two states. They particularly emphasized the significance of intensive contacts between the leaders of both countries in fostering the alliance based on fraternal and friendly relations between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan.

Subsequently, the next round of political consultations was held between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The political consultations were led by Deputy Minister Samir Sharifov on the Azerbaijani side and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Bobur Usmanov on the Uzbek side.

During the consultations, the sides highlighted the positive dynamics of bilateral political dialogue and noted the important role of the Intergovernmental Commission and the mechanism of political consultations.

At the same time, the parties discussed the implementation status of reached agreements, as well as prospects for expanding cooperation in trade and economy, energy, transport and logistics, humanitarian affairs, and other areas of mutual interest.

Additionally, they reviewed matters of close interaction within regional and international organizations, including the United Nations, the Organization of Turkic States, the Non-Aligned Movement, and other multilateral platforms.

The consultations also included an exchange of views on other bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest.
