Today is Lachin City Day.

According to Operativ Media, Lachin City Day is celebrated solemnly every year on August 26, in accordance with a decree signed by President Ilham Aliyev.

The celebration of this landmark day on this date is connected with the deployment of the Azerbaijani Army in the city of Lachin on August 26, 2022. On that day, President Ilham Aliyev announced the good news of Azerbaijanis returning to the city of Lachin on the social network X.

The post shared by the head of state on this day in 2022 reads: "Today, on August 26, we, the Azerbaijanis, have returned to the city of Lachin. The Azerbaijani Army has deployed in the city of Lachin. The villages of Zabukh and Sus were taken under control. I congratulate all the people of Lachin and the Azerbaijani nation on this occasion. Long live Lachin! Long live Azerbaijan!".

Thus, on August 26, the State Flag of Azerbaijan was raised in the city of Lachin. The commander of the army corps, Major General Kanan Seyidov, reported to the President of Azerbaijan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Ilham Aliyev, on the deployment of the Azerbaijani Army in the city of Lachin.

It should be noted that our ancient historical lands, which remained under occupation for nearly 30 years as a result of Armenian military aggression, were liberated through military-political means during the 44-day Patriotic War, and every day leading to the glorious Victory has been written in golden letters in Azerbaijani history.

To facilitate the return of internally displaced persons to their homelands, the implementation of the "First State Program on the Great Return to the Liberated Territories of the Republic of Azerbaijan," approved by Decree No. 3587 of the President of Azerbaijan dated November 16, 2022, has begun.

The number of former internally displaced persons returning to the city of Lachin is increasing year by year, and work in this direction continues.
