The Heydar Aliyev Center has been illuminated in the colors of the Uzbek flag to mark September 1 – the Independence Day of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Operativ Media reports that September 1 is celebrated as Uzbekistan's main national holiday, Independence Day.

The country declared its independence on August 31, 1991, with September 1 designated as Independence Day. 

This year, Uzbekistan celebrates the 35th anniversary of its independence.
