Azerbaijani judoka Aykhan Mirzazade has won a gold medal at the European Junior Judo Championships in Podgorica, Montenegro.

Operativ Media reports that competing in the 60 kg weight category, the athlete defeated France's Lucien Tixier in the final to claim the top spot on the podium.

Azerbaijan is represented by 14 judokas (9 boys and 5 girls) across 10 weight categories at the continental championship. Later today, other Azerbaijani athletes Mahammad Musayev (66 kg) and Khadija Gadashova (57 kg) will compete for gold and bronze medals, respectively.
