"The Poland-based Nexta channel has released information based on subjective speculation regarding a fire that occurred on September 2, 2026, near the village of Nizami in the Goranboy district of the Republic of Azerbaijan, attempting to present the issue against the backdrop of interstate political relations and aiming to mislead public opinion."

Operativ Media reports that these views were expressed in a statement released by the Media Development Agency.

The statement reads: "Analyses show that what is happening is part of a hybrid information campaign managed from a single center. The Western media, which constantly accuses outside forces of hybrid warfare in its own information environment, is itself conducting an organized disinformation campaign against Azerbaijan.

This fact once again shows that since the normalization of relations between neighboring states in the region and the strengthening of stability and prosperity do not serve the interests of certain circles, cases of classic disinformation aimed at polluting our country's information space and creating artificial anxiety in society have intensified.

Monitoring and analysis of the general information environment show that a campaign of spreading false information against Azerbaijan has recently been observed in several Western media outlets. In particular, the clear one-sided approach and unfounded speculation in materials published by the UK's "The Independent" and "The Guardian" newspapers and the "BBC" broadcasting corporation, the US's CNN television channel, France's "Le Monde" newspaper, Poland's TVP television channel, and other resources are part of an information attack targeting Azerbaijan's international image.

The dissemination of such speculation and claims should be assessed as a clear manifestation of information manipulation.

The Media Development Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan will continue to take the necessary measures to investigate such cases and prevent disinformation attempts aimed at casting a shadow over our country's sovereignty, domestic and foreign policy, as well as its international reputation.
