UEFA to honor victims of Nepal floods

A minute of silence will be observed before next week's UEFA Champions League matches to honor the victims of the devastating floods in Nepal.

Operativ Media reports that this was announced by the UEFA press service.

In addition, a banner reading "You are not alone, Nepal" will be displayed on the pitch before each match.

UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin stated that the European football family will come together ahead of next week's matches to express its condolences and support to the people of Nepal. He wished the nation strength and resilience in overcoming the tragedy and its aftermath.

Severe flooding hit northern Nepal on August 26. According to the latest reports, the death toll from the disaster has exceeded 1,300. Approximately 32,000 families have been left homeless, and around 7,500 homes have been destroyed.

Furthermore, nearly 5,000 people, including 589 foreigners, are reported missing. The Russian Embassy's list also notes that 12 Russian citizens are missing.
