US forces disable five Iranian tankers

The US Armed Forces have destroyed five Iranian crude oil tankers following two attempts by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) to attack an American warship with ballistic missiles.

Operativ Media reports, citing a statement from the United States Central Command (CENTCOM).

According to CENTCOM, the Iranian military targeted the US warship twice over a two-day period, but the vessel successfully evaded the missile strikes and continued its patrol in the region. No casualties were reported among US service members.

In response to the attacks, US forces destroyed the tankers "M/T Kaviz", "M/T Charminar", "M/T Horizon 1", and "M/T Riesco" in the Gulf of Oman, as well as the "M/T Derya" near Kharg Island. Prior to the strikes, the US military ordered the crews to abandon the vessels, after which the tankers were disabled.

Earlier, on September 5, US forces destroyed three Iranian oil tankers following an IRGC attempt to attack a US aircraft carrier and a guided-missile destroyer. According to CENTCOM, all IRGC attempts to target US Navy vessels have failed.
