Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov has met with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on the sidelines of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly.

Operativ Media reports that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan (MFA) shared this on the social media platform X.

The sides exchanged views on regional and international developments, as well as Azerbaijan's activities.

Azerbaijan's active participation within the UN and its specialized agencies, as well as its contributions to multilateralism, international law, and the principles of the UN Charter, were highlighted.

During the discussions, Azerbaijan's contributions as a donor country and its humanitarian initiatives were also in focus.

The meeting addressed global climate action and sustainable development, highlighting Azerbaijan's successful hosting of COP29, as well as its growing role in renewable energy, transport, and regional connectivity.

Bayramov provided information on the latest developments in the normalization process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, efforts toward confidence-building in the South Caucasus, large-scale reconstruction work supporting the return of former internally displaced persons (IDPs), and demining activities.
