Mikayil Jabbarov outlines three key areas for regional development
Public-private partnership is in particular focus in Karabakh and East Zangezur, where infrastructure has already been established and the next phase is economic activity.
Operativ Media reports that Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov said this during his speech at the CAMCA Regional Forum.
“In our view, there are three key areas that create broad opportunities for cooperation: digital transformation, energy, and green investments. Azerbaijan has approved a National Artificial Intelligence Strategy focusing on data infrastructure, skills, business application, and ethics. Competitive energy and high-capacity connectivity provide a natural foundation for Data Centers and AI infrastructure. The second area is energy. Wind and solar power plants are already operating in Azerbaijan and the region, and the construction of new ones is underway in cooperation with international partners. The third is green investments. Azerbaijan's role in this region is based on a simple principle: We fulfill our commitments and open doors for cooperation. The Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline and the Southern Gas Corridor were realized at a time when many believed these projects were unrealistic. Investments in Middle Corridor infrastructure are the best proof of our commitment to future development.
Infrastructure and energy will not create prosperity on their own; people will. In every sector I have described, the limiting factor is not a lack of capital or mineral resources, but skills. Our approach has been to link education with the economy and, of course, the labor market. We ask our partners not just to bring capital, but also to contribute to the training of local engineers and specialists. We encourage greater exchange between our universities, vocational centers, and businesses. Because a region that trains and moves its workforce together, develops together,” the minister added.
