US President Donald Trump said that in February 2026, Iran was just a few weeks away from acquiring nuclear weapons.

Operativ Media reports that speaking to supporters in Texas, he recalled the launch of the US operation against Iran.

"Iran was on the verge of acquiring nuclear weapons. There were three to four weeks, maybe even less, left. If they had acquired nuclear weapons, the game would have been over. We could not allow that," Trump said.

Notably, at the end of September, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi rejected claims that Tehran was on the verge of creating nuclear weapons, calling them false.
