A total of 100 athletes from five countries are expected to participate in the 3rd International Khankendi Ultramarathon, scheduled for October 8-11.

The Baku City Circuit Operations Company told Operativ Media about the event.

Jointly organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Azerbaijan Athletics Federation, and the Baku City Circuit Operations Company, the ultramarathon will start in the city of Gabala.

Participants will cover a distance of 192 kilometers to reach the finish line in Khankendi. A total of 100 athletes from five countries are expected to compete in the race.

The main goal of the international ultramarathon is to promote a healthy lifestyle and running, as well as to showcase various regions of Azerbaijan through sports. The 192-kilometer Gabala-Khankendi route promises a challenging competition that will test the physical fitness and endurance of the participants.

The ultramarathon will consist of four stages: Gabala - Agdash (55 km), Agdash - Barda (65 km), Barda - Aghdam (44 km), and Aghdam - Khankendi (28 km). Winners of each stage will be awarded individually, while the overall winners of the ultramarathon will receive the grand prize.

The Khankendi Ultramarathon was first organized in 2024 along the Khankendi-Baku route, covering a distance of 380 kilometers with 64 athletes from four countries participating. In 2025, the ultramarathon was held along the Gabala-Khankendi route, drawing 81 athletes from six countries.

Organized for the third time in 2026, the Khankendi Ultramarathon will once again take place along the Gabala-Khankendi route.
