President Ilham Aliyev receives newly appointed Malaysian ambassador
President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Malaysia to the country, Aznifah Isnariah Binti Abdul Qani, on October 5.
Operativ Media reports that the ambassador presented her credentials to the head of state.

Noting the friendly and brotherly relations between the two countries, the head of state emphasized the importance of bringing economic cooperation to the level of political relations, expanding partnership in energy, investment, tourism, and other fields, and continuing an active political dialogue. In this regard, President Ilham Aliyev highlighted the role of mutual visits by delegations at various levels.
The Azerbaijani President wished the ambassador success in her diplomatic endeavors.
The ambassador conveyed greetings from His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, and Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, along with an invitation for the head of state to visit Malaysia.
President Ilham Aliyev expressed his gratitude for the greetings and asked the ambassador to convey his own regards to the King and Prime Minister of Malaysia. Thanking them for the invitation, the head of state noted that he accepted it with pleasure. President Ilham Aliyev, in turn, invited the King and Prime Minister of Malaysia to visit Azerbaijan.
The ambassador noted that relations between the two countries have been at an excellent level for many years and pledged to work diligently to further strengthen cooperation.
During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on the prospects of bilateral relations and emphasized the importance of mutual support within international organizations.
They discussed cooperation in tourism, including the mutual waiver of visa requirements to promote tourism, and the establishment of direct flights between Azerbaijan and Malaysia.
The meeting also touched upon educational ties, noting that Azerbaijani students study in Malaysia, while Malaysian students study in Azerbaijan under scholarship programs provided by the Azerbaijani government.
