According to the ministry, Azerbaijani citizen Rustam Ismayil oglu Hasanov, born in 1974, who was the ship's captain, was killed in the attack. Another Azerbaijani citizen, Mahammad Hamza oglu Suleymanzade, born in 2002, is missing. Search and rescue operations are currently underway.
Other Azerbaijani crew members were rescued, and three of them have been hospitalized.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is coordinating with Azerbaijan's diplomatic missions and the relevant authorities of the countries involved. Necessary measures are being taken to provide medical and consular assistance to the citizens, as well as to repatriate the body of the deceased.
We express our deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of our deceased compatriots and wish the injured a speedy recovery.
Once again, we urge Azerbaijani citizens to refrain from traveling to regions with ongoing military operations and unstable security situations, and from working in these areas, as well as on vehicles, particularly ships, operating along high-risk routes.
