Greece will purchase $4 billion worth of military equipment and hardware from the United States under the Foreign Military Sales (FMS) program.

Operativ Media reports, citing the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs, that this was stated in a joint statement following the sixth round of the Greece-US Strategic Dialogue held in Athens.

The parties noted that the deliveries aim to support Greece's long-term defense planning and increase the interoperability of the two countries' armed forces. Athens and Washington also intend to explore opportunities for future cooperation in the defense industry, including innovative technologies.

In addition, the parties finalized the agreement on Greece's participation in the US National Guard Bureau's State Partnership Program with Florida. As part of expanding defense cooperation, Greece will also acquire US "Stryker" armored vehicles.

The strategic dialogue was co-chaired by Greek Foreign Minister Giorgos Gerapetritis and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio. The parties agreed to continue strengthening cooperation in defense and security, as well as to expand interaction in combating terrorism and illegal migration.
