Israel will suspend the operations of the British consulate in East Jerusalem on October 8, but will not expel its staff from the country.

Operativ Media reports, citing The Times, that the mission will lose its diplomatic status; however, around 30 British diplomats working there will be able to continue their service at the embassy in Tel Aviv.

The decision does not entail the expulsion of the diplomats' family members.

London had previously warned that it could expel 30 Israeli diplomats from the UK in response to the closure of the consulate.
