Azerbaijan, Spain discuss current state of bilateral relations
Deputy Foreign Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan Elnur Mammadov visited the Kingdom of Spain on October 6-7.
During the visit, the fifth round of political consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation of the Kingdom of Spain was held in the capital, Madrid.
The Azerbaijani delegation was led by Deputy Minister Elnur Mammadov, while the Spanish delegation was headed by Diego Belio, Secretary of State for Foreign and Global Affairs.
During the consultations, the current state and prospects for development of relations between the two countries in political, economic, energy, including green energy, cultural, educational, tourism, transport-logistics, and other fields were extensively discussed. In this context, the sides exchanged views on trade and investment promotion, as well as cooperation within the "Strategic Economic Dialogue."
The meeting highlighted the importance of continuing mutual support within international organizations. The sides also reviewed opportunities for experience sharing and practical cooperation in humanitarian demining.
During the visit, the Azerbaijani delegation met with Pilar Sanchez-Bella Solis, Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs at the Office of the President of the Government (Prime Minister) of Spain.
Deputy Minister Elnur Mammadov also met with Javier Maroto, Vice President of the Senate of Spain. The sides emphasized the promotion of parliamentary diplomacy and the role of interparliamentary relations in developing bilateral ties.
Additionally, Deputy Minister Elnur Mammadov delivered a presentation on "Azerbaijan's Foreign Policy" to the faculty and students of the Diplomatic School of Spain.
During the visit, the deputy foreign minister gave interviews to leading Spanish media outlets on the current state of bilateral relations and opportunities for future cooperation between the two countries.
