"It is clear that the decline in the level of the Caspian Sea is not only related to climate change. One of the main reasons is anthropogenic factors associated with reduced river flow and agricultural activities,"

Operativ Media reports that President Ilham Aliyev made these remarks at an expanded meeting of the Caspian Ecological Summit held in the city of Turkmenbashi.

In addition, the head of state noted the importance of assessing the potential long-term consequences of the ongoing changes and taking them into account when making decisions today. He emphasized that such an approach would allow for the timely implementation of necessary measures and minimize the impact of further declines in the sea level.

"We believe that the necessary legal framework, scientific potential, and experience of cooperation will create a strong foundation for achieving concrete practical results," the President said.
