A handover ceremony for the International Judo Federation (IJF) flag has been held as part of the Senior World Judo Championships taking place in Baku.

Operativ Media reports, citing the press service of the Azerbaijan Judo Federation.

The ceremony at the National Gymnastics Arena was attended by Elnur Mammadli, Vice President of the Azerbaijan Judo Federation, Lisa Allan, IJF Secretary General, and Kuanyshbek Yesekeyev, President of the Kazakhstan Judo Federation.

The IJF flag was lowered from the arena flagpole and brought to the main stage. Mammadli handed the flag to Allan, who then passed it to Yesekeyev, representing Kazakhstan as the host of the 2027 World Championships. This symbolically transferred the hosting of the event from Baku to Astana.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, a promotional video was screened for the 2027 World Championships, which will take place in the Kazakh capital.
