The United States is in contact with Yemen's Ansar Allah (Houthi) rebel movement.
Operativ Media reports that US President Donald Trump told reporters at Joint Base Andrews near Washington upon returning to the White House from Tennessee.
"We have established contact with the Houthis, and we'll see what happens next. But what they did was very bad," he said, commenting on strikes carried out against Saudi Arabia.
However, he added that in such circumstances, the kingdom has the right to defend itself.
Earlier, Saudi Arabia's General Authority of Civil Aviation reported that an attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh killed at least 12 people, including one US citizen, and injured 309 others.
