President Ilham Aliyev receives member of Political Bureau of Communist Party of China Central Committee

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China, on October 14.

Operativ Media reports that President Ilham Aliyev recalled with satisfaction his state visit to the People's Republic of China, his meetings with President Xi Jinping during the trip, and the adoption of the Joint Statement on strategic partnership between the two countries, noting that bilateral relations have thereby reached a new level.

Recalling with satisfaction his previous visit to Azerbaijan and his meeting with the head of state, the guest conveyed the greetings of President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping to President Ilham Aliyev.

The Azerbaijani president expressed gratitude for the greetings and asked Wang Yi to convey his own greetings to President Xi Jinping.

Touching upon the significance of the Joint Statement on strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and China adopted during President Ilham Aliyev's visit to China, Wang Yi emphasized that China is a reliable and long-term partner of Azerbaijan.

Stating that he was deeply impressed by the development processes he witnessed in Baku, the guest noted Azerbaijan's successful and dynamic development under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, adding that as a close friend of Azerbaijan, China sincerely rejoices at these achievements.

The guest noted that China consistently supports Azerbaijan's territorial integrity and sovereignty, highlighting the country's growing role in international and regional affairs.

He extended his congratulations on Azerbaijan's chairmanship of CICA, as well as the country hosting the organization's summit.

Expressing gratitude for the kind words, President Ilham Aliyev in turn noted China's dynamic development and stated that Azerbaijan highly appreciates China's representation of the interests of the Global South and its support for sustainable development.

The head of state stressed that Azerbaijan consistently supports the "One China" policy.

President Ilham Aliyev also noted the importance of the Belt and Road Initiative and recalled that Azerbaijan was one of the first countries to support it.

Highlighting the dynamic development of the Middle Corridor, the head of state noted that there are broad opportunities for cooperation between Azerbaijan and China in this regard.

The guest emphasized that Azerbaijan holds an important position along the Middle Corridor.

President Ilham Aliyev said that economic and trade ties are currently actively developing in line with the spirit of political relations. In this context, the head of state highlighted the active involvement of Chinese companies in various investment projects in Azerbaijan.

During the meeting, issues of cooperation in renewable energy were touched upon, and it was emphasized that both countries cooperate in combating separatism, extremism, and radicalism.
