Leyla Aliyeva attends opening ceremony of World Summit on investing in child welfare in Samarkand

Leyla Aliyeva, Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, attended on October 21 the opening ceremony of the World Summit on "Investing in Children's Well-being: Towards Sustainable and Equitable Development of Future Generations" and the 2nd International Congress on Pediatric Oncology in Samarkand, Uzbekistan.

AZERTAC reports that prior to the opening ceremony, First Lady of the Republic of Uzbekistan Ziroat Mirziyoyeva welcomed Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva and other participants.

A group photograph was then taken.

The events, taking place on October 21–22, bring together representatives from more than 100 countries.

The summit was organized at the initiative of Uzbekistan in partnership with the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General on Violence against Children, the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), the World Health Organization, and the World Bank.

The Samarkand Declaration is expected to be adopted at the conclusion of the summit.
