Bessent: Trump Demands World Leaders Halt All Ties with Iran
Əsəd Abbaslı
U.S. President Donald Trump is reaching out to world leaders, demanding that they halt any interaction with Iran.
Operativ Media reports that U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent stated this during a press conference.
“The president is calling world leaders with specific requests, demanding that they stop interactions with Iran,” Bessent said.
The U.S. Treasury Secretary declined to disclose which heads of state Trump has spoken with so far.
“We will not disclose specific names. We are already seeing certain results, and I am confident that, as you know, the president is very persuasive,” he noted.
According to Bessent, alongside Trump's phone calls, the U.S. Department of State and the Treasury Department are clearly conveying to leaders of various countries, states, and organizations through visits and negotiations what Washington expects of them and the timelines established.
He added that if the counterparties do not comply with U.S. demands, they could soon face the consequences.
The U.S. administration is preparing to increase pressure and expand secondary sanctions against countries and entities that maintain economic ties with Iran.
