Canada imposes tariffs of up to 50% on US goods

Canada will impose customs tariffs of 15%, 25%, and 50% on a range of products imported from the United States starting September 8.

Operativ Media reports that this was stated in a statement by Canada's Department of Finance.

According to the statement, the retaliatory tariffs will apply to American goods with a total value of approximately $20 billion.

The tariffs will be applied to cars and motorcycles, household appliances, agricultural equipment, electrical appliances, paper, and cardboard.

In addition, the tariff on steel, aluminum, and products made from them will be increased from 25% to 50%.

It is noted that Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney stated that Ottawa would respond symmetrically to the tariffs imposed by the US.
