Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has stressed the importance of creating opportunities to import electricity from Azerbaijan if the need arises.

Pashinyan said that more options for additional electricity imports are needed, taking into account his country's investments in the artificial intelligence sector.

The prime minister noted that Armenia is also discussing electricity imports with Georgia, Iran, and Turkey. According to him, electricity exchange opportunities could be utilized during periods of surplus production or demand in these countries.

Pashinyan also stated that a converter station is being built on the border with Georgia to facilitate electricity imports and exports. It was noted that the project is being implemented with financial support from the European Union.

The prime minister made these remarks a few days after a meeting where the governments of Armenia and Azerbaijan discussed electricity trade and the coordination of energy infrastructure.
