Citizens purchasing apartments in new-build buildings must first check whether the building has a proper construction permit in order to subsequently obtain a title deed for their property.

Operativ Media reports that this was stated by Metin Eynullayev, Chief of the State Service on Property Issues under the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan, in an interview with APA Information Agency and Khazar TV.

According to him, there must be a permit from the State Committee on Urban Planning and Architecture for construction in the city of Baku, and from the relevant local executive authorities in other cities and districts.

Metin Eynullayev noted that it is also essential for the building to be officially commissioned.

Otherwise, it is impossible to recognize ownership rights over the apartments located in that building.

“We appeal to citizens and urge them to pay attention to these two points first and foremost,” he emphasized.
