President Ilham Aliyev has sent a letter of condolence to Tufan Erhurman, President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

Operativ Media reports that the letter reads:

"Dear Mr. President,

We were deeply shocked by the news of the loss of life in a shipwreck near Girne.

On my own behalf and on behalf of the people of Azerbaijan, I extend my deepest condolences to you, the families and loved ones of those who died, and to your brotherly people, and wish a speedy recovery to the injured.

May Allah rest their souls in peace!"
