Iran Closes Passage Through Strait of Hormuz

Iran has established new conditions for passage through the Strait of Hormuz.

Operativ Media reports that this was stated by Ebrahim Rezaei, the spokesperson for the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of the Iranian Parliament.

According to him, a number of issues were approved by MPs during the discussion of the draft bill "Strategic Action on the Security of the Strait of Hormuz."

Under the decision, obtaining insurance and bank guarantees for vessels will be mandatory.

In addition, the payment of insurance and service tariffs is required.

Rezaei stated that countries that have participated in a war against Iran and caused any form of damage to the country during the war must reach an agreement with Tehran on paying compensation.

He emphasized that otherwise, vessels belonging to those countries will not be allowed to pass through the Strait of Hormuz.
