Mourinho tightens disciplinary rules at Real Madrid

Real Madrid head coach Jose Mourinho has changed the disciplinary fine system for players who violate team rules.

Operativ Media reports this with reference to Defensa Central. The Portuguese specialist has abandoned monetary fines for lateness.

According to the report, instead of training with the team, a player who is late for practice may be made to train individually in the gym. Additionally, the player could be excluded from the squad for the next match.

Spanish newspaper AS also reported that disciplinary rules have been tightened since Mourinho's arrival. According to the publication, players must arrive at the Valdebebas training ground one hour before practice begins.

A late player must undergo individual training instead of practicing with the main group. The coaching staff has also tightened control over player recovery and nutrition.

The post-injury rehabilitation process must be carried out at the club's training ground, even if the player works with a personal specialist. The team's menu is prepared based on recommendations from club experts.

Jose Mourinho returned to Real Madrid in the summer of 2026. The Madrid club officially announced the appointment of the 63-year-old specialist as head coach on June 11. His contract runs until June 30, 2029.

The Portuguese manager previously led Real Madrid from 2010 to 2013. Under his leadership, the Madrid side won the Spanish championship in the 2011/12 season, racking up 100 points.
