The foreign ministries of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan have held another round of consular consultations in Ashgabat.

The Azerbaijani delegation was led by Emil Safarov, head of the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, while the Turkmen delegation was headed by Dovletirat Muratov, head of the Consular Services Department.

The meeting was attended by officials from Turkmenistan's Ministry of Internal Affairs, Migration Service, and Prosecutor General's Office, as well as an official from Azerbaijan's Ministry of Internal Affairs and staff from the Azerbaijani Embassy in Turkmenistan.

During the consultations, the sides exchanged views on the current state and prospects for development of consular cooperation between the two countries.

The delegations discussed protecting the rights and interests of citizens of both countries, including the simplification of visa regimes.

Cooperation in internal affairs, citizenship, migration, justice, education, and other key areas was also reviewed.

At the end of the talks, the heads of the delegations signed the protocol of the meeting and agreed to hold the next round of consultations in Baku next year.
