Former Paris Saint-Germain and Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Benjamin Stambouli has announced his retirement from professional football.

Operativ Media reports that the 36-year-old Frenchman intends to pursue a coaching career. He stated that he plans to start coaching in 2027.

Stambouli noted that he has been advising young players and acting as a mentor within his teams for several years. He plans to take courses in psychological preparation and video analysis in the coaching field, as well as watch various matches and meet with coaches.

The 36-year-old player left Metz as a free agent on July 1. During his career, he played for Reims, Adana Demirspor, Schalke, PSG, Tottenham, and Montpellier.

Stambouli made 480 appearances across all competitions at the professional level, scoring 11 goals and providing 25 assists.

He won the French league title twice, with Montpellier and PSG. In addition, he won the French Super Cup twice, the French Cup once, and the French League Cup once.
