Steve Witkoff, the U.S. presidential special envoy, held a constructive and substantive meeting in Moscow with Russian President Vladimir Putin regarding the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine.

Operativ Media reports that Witkoff shared this during a press conference in Kyiv while speaking about U.S. contacts with Moscow and Kyiv.

According to him, the U.S. delegation first met with Vladimir Putin to understand the position of the Russian leadership.

“We first met with President Putin. It was important for us to hear his position. We had a good and concrete conversation with him. Afterwards, we briefed President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and his team about it,” Witkoff said.

The special envoy noted that the American side sought to understand the Russian leadership's position in the first stage, and subsequently conveyed the substance of the meeting to the Ukrainian side.
