Azerbaijan and Armenia have agreed to conduct state border delimitation from north to south, starting from the intersection point of the borders of Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Georgia.

Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov told journalists, Operativ Media reports.

According to the minister, regular meetings are held and negotiations continue between the relevant commissions of the two countries as part of the delimitation process.

“The composition of the State Commission on Delimitation remains unchanged. The commission is headed by Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev. Meetings of the commissions are held regularly, and discussions are ongoing. In Armenia, the corresponding commission is also headed by a deputy prime minister,” Jeyhun Bayramov noted.

The foreign minister emphasized that numerous meetings have been held between the Azerbaijani and Armenian commissions over the past period, and several documents regulating their activities have been adopted and approved in both Azerbaijan and Armenia.

The minister stated that an agreement already exists regarding the direction from which the delimitation of the shared border will begin.

“There is an agreement and mutual understanding to conduct and advance the work from north to south, starting from the more difficult northern border, at the intersection point of Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Georgia,” Jeyhun Bayramov said.

He noted that more specific issues within the delimitation process will be discussed as the work progresses, and their resolution is expected.

“When it comes to more specific details, of course, all issues will be discussed in due course, and their resolution is expected. Issues related to various residential settlements will be discussed within the framework of the delimitation commission's work,” the minister added.
