Lille forward Olivier Giroud has announced that there is a high probability he will end his football career at the end of the 2026/27 season.

Operativ Media reports that the 39-year-old forward spoke about this in a statement to L'Equipe. Giroud said he believes the current season will be his last as a footballer and is trying to enjoy every moment of the remaining time.

The French forward has been playing for Lille since July 2025. His contract with the club is valid until the summer of 2027.

During his career, Giroud has also played for Grenoble, Istres, Tours, Montpellier, Arsenal, Chelsea, Milan, and Los Angeles.

He won the French league title with Montpellier and the Italian league title with Milan. Having won the FA Cup three times and the English Super Cup three times with Arsenal, the player also claimed titles in the Europa League, Champions League, and FA Cup with Chelsea.

Giroud became a world champion with the French national team in 2018. He is the second highest scorer in the history of the national team. The forward scored 57 goals in 137 matches for France.

Giroud ended his international career after EURO 2024.
