Azerbaijan holds a special place in Iran's neighborhood policy.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said this during a meeting with Azerbaijani Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev, Operativ Media  reports.

According to the Iranian president's official information portal, Pezeshkian pointed to the positive dynamics in bilateral relations and emphasized the importance of maximizing existing opportunities to further deepen and expand ties between Tehran and Baku.

“We are relatives and brothers. We must further expand relations and ties between our two countries by utilizing existing opportunities and the advantages of being neighbors,” the Iranian president said.

Pezeshkian noted that Azerbaijan and Iran share extensive ties in scientific, cultural, economic, political, and security fields, requiring joint efforts to strengthen them further.

The Iranian president emphasized that the shared border should not be an obstacle to developing relations, but should instead create opportunities for expanding cooperation.
