Iliyan Filipov, the president of the Botev football club, has been killed in the Bulgarian city of Plovdiv.

Operativ Media reports that the incident occurred on the night of September 30. According to Nova, citing data from the Bulgarian Ministry of Internal Affairs, Filipov was killed while heading home after a football match.

Police and prosecution representatives confirmed at a briefing that the incident was a murder. Other details of the incident have not been disclosed due to the confidentiality of the investigation.

Procedural and investigative measures are currently being carried out at the scene. The investigation has just begun, and law enforcement agencies are considering all possible versions of the incident.

According to preliminary information, Filipov's death was caused by a gunshot wound to the head.
