French club Bordeaux has announced that it has agreed to a takeover by investment fund Park Bench for €1.

Operativ Media reports that the deal will prevent the club's liquidation. Park Bench has also agreed to take on Bordeaux's substantial debts.

In early September 2026, Bordeaux, which had been playing in the lower divisions, was excluded from the national leagues. For a long time, it remained uncertain whether the club could even continue operating in the Regional 1 League. Although several agreements with potential buyers neared completion, the deals ultimately fell through.

To finalize the acquisition, Park Bench representatives will next be interviewed by the regional management control commission of the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Football League. If this process is successful, the sale of the club will be officially completed.

On its social media accounts, Bordeaux described the deal as an "important step" for the club's future.

Bordeaux spent the last two seasons in the French fourth division. The club was relegated in 2024 due to financial problems. The team was scheduled to play at the sixth tier of the country's football pyramid in the 2026/27 season.

Bordeaux has been crowned French champions six times in its history. The club last won the Ligue 1 title in the 2008/09 season. The team also has four French Cup victories to its name.
