CICA Secretary General Praises Azerbaijan's Initiative
2 min read

Holding such a meeting for the first time within the framework of CICA is a valuable contribution to regional dialogue. First of all, I would like to express my gratitude to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, who initiated the CICA Media Forum.

This was stated by CICA Secretary General Ambassador Kairat Sarybay at the CICA Media Forum, organized by the Media and Broadcasting Council, Operativ Media reports.

He noted that it is a great honor for him to speak at the opening of the first Media Forum within CICA.

The ambassador said that this initiative reflects President Ilham Aliyev's broad vision of international cooperation. According to him, this vision is based on the principles of openness and dialogue, as well as the recognition of the important role of the media in strengthening trust and mutual understanding between states.

Kairat Sarybay noted that every visit to Baku creates new opportunities for the further development of cooperation.

He said that regular meetings demonstrate the active and effective approach of Azerbaijan's chairmanship within CICA and serve the sustainable development of the organization's activities.

According to the ambassador, clearly informing the public is essential to achieving practical results in strengthening regional trust. In this regard, bringing media representatives together in such a meeting is of great importance.

He noted that in a world increasingly affected by geopolitical tensions, economic uncertainty, and violent pressures, digital transformation is rapidly changing how societies access and use information.

“The rapid dissemination of information can sometimes bridge existing differences, and at other times deepen misunderstandings.

Narratives and the approaches they shape have a direct impact on international relations.

Under such circumstances, conducting an open and constructive dialogue becomes a global priority.

This priority was also clearly reaffirmed at the recently held session of the UN General Assembly.

However, global goals require regional action. Regional efforts complement the work of the UN, providing practical solutions tailored to the region's characteristics that serve to strengthen the broader, UN-based system.

Implementing these regional solutions is precisely the work that CICA does.

Bringing together 28 member states, CICA creates an inclusive platform for dialogue across Asia.”
