Azerbaijan's national team wins beach wrestling world championship for first time
Azerbaijan's national beach wrestling team has achieved historic success at the final stage of the World Series held in Katerini, Greece.
Mikayil Jabbarov, President of the Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation, shared the news on his X social media account, Operativ Media reports.
"For the first time in its history, the Azerbaijani national team has become the world champion in beach wrestling," he wrote, adding that Vusal Aliyev (80 kg) and Ashraf Ashirov (90 kg) won gold, while Rubail Ibrahimli (70 kg), Sahib Dadashov (80 kg), and Jamal Feyziyev (+90 kg) claimed bronze medals.
He highlighted the head coach's role in achieving this success:
"We congratulate all our wrestlers, their parents, personal coaches, and federation representatives, led by Oyan Nazariani, who was named the world's best head coach and played a key role in achieving this success, and wish them success in future competitions."
