World Judo Championships begin in Baku
The World Judo Championships for seniors will kick off in Baku today.
Operativ Media reports that on the first day of the competition, which will be held at the National Gymnastics Arena, four members of the Azerbaijani national team will take to the tatami in two weight categories.
In the women's -48 kg weight category, Shafag Hamidova will face Madagascar's Natacha Razafindrakalo in the 1/32 final. Meanwhile, Konul Aliyeva will begin her campaign in the 1/16 final against Mari Di Vargas Ley of Chile.
In the men's -60 kg weight category, Balabay Aghayev will face the winner of the match between Artsiom Kolasau (Belarus) and Dilshot Khalmatov (Ukraine) in the 1/16 final. In the same stage, Ahmad Yusifov will take on the winner of the bout between Bakhrom Boturov (Uzbekistan) and Tumenjarqal Tuvshintur (Mongolia).
The preliminary rounds of the competition will be broadcast live on CBC Sport starting at 11:30, while the final block will air live on İctimai TV starting at 18:00.
