Pashinyan: Azerbaijani soldier detained in Shaki will remain in Armenia for some time
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has stated that the Azerbaijani soldier who crossed the border and was detained in the village of Shaki will remain in Armenia for some time.
Operativ Media reports that Pashinyan made a statement on this.
According to him, all procedures regarding the criminal case against the soldier will be carried out on Armenian territory. Pashinyan noted that the soldier is currently in custody and the investigation is ongoing.
Responding to a question about a possible exchange, the prime minister did not express a concrete position.
Pashinyan also commented on why the residents of Shaki village were not warned, despite the Azerbaijani side having informed the National Security Service of Armenia about the soldier going missing.
The prime minister noted that there was no evidence of the individual having crossed into Armenian territory.
