The US-based company The Friedkin Group (TFG) is considering a full sale of the English football club Everton.

Operativ Media reports, citing The Athletic, that the company, which initially sought strategic investors and planned to sell a minority stake, is now open to selling a controlling interest. However, TFG is only prepared to sell to a suitable buyer who can ensure the club's future development.

Everton has also confirmed that its owners are exploring various options for the club's future, including the sale of a controlling stake.

A statement released by the club noted that when TFG acquired Everton, the team faced serious challenges both on and off the pitch, as well as financial uncertainty. It added that a solid foundation has now been established for the club's development, and the next phase is being planned. The company will only consider offers from parties it believes will manage the club properly and sustain the progress made.

TFG acquired a 94% stake in Everton from Farhad Moshiri in December 2024. Following the deal, the company refinanced a significant portion of the club's debt and attracted new minority investors.

The Friedkin Group's portfolio also includes Italy's Roma and France's Cannes.

After five rounds in the English Premier League, Everton sits in seventh place in the standings with 9 points.
