Arsenal could pay €118 million for Alvarez

Argentina's World Cup-winning forward Julian Alvarez could leave Atletico Madrid to continue his career at Arsenal.

Operativ Media reports, citing TEAMtalk.

According to the report, the London club was also interested in the 26-year-old player last summer. At that time, although Atletico agreed to sell the striker, Alvarez insisted on moving to Barcelona. The Madrid club, however, refused to enter transfer negotiations with a direct rival.

The source claims Alvarez is dissatisfied with the prospect of staying at Atletico long-term and is currently open to talks with Arsenal. The English club could pay £100 million (€118 million) for the Argentine forward.

Alvarez has made four appearances in La Liga this season. He has not started in any of those matches and has yet to register a goal contribution.

The player's contract with Atletico is valid until the summer of 2030. The Transfermarkt portal estimates his market value at €110 million.
