Valdas Dambrauskas: "There are no easy games in the Champions League"
Valdas Dambrauskas, head coach of Sabah, who will host Germany's Borussia at the Baku Olympic Stadium on October 20 in Round 3 of the UEFA Champions League league phase, held a pre-match press conference.
Operativ Media reports that the Lithuanian specialist first highlighted the opponent's strength when asked whether Borussia's failure to score in their last two matches would give Sabah extra motivation:
"That is not good news for us. You rightly pointed out that they will be even more focused on tomorrow's match and will do everything they can to score. But I believe in my team. Borussia is one of the biggest clubs in Germany and the world. They have a very good head coach. We expect a very difficult game. Every match in the Champions League gives us experience and teaches us a lesson. Tomorrow we will learn a lot as well. Borussia is also a team that presses at a very high level. We face major challenges ahead. There are no easy games in the Champions League. I am eagerly looking forward to tomorrow's match."
The experienced head coach also addressed a question about whether young player Khayal Aliyev is ready for the fixture:
"I believe he is ready. We have more than 20 players, and all of them are ready to play. We will make a decision regarding the lineup after today's training session."
Dambrauskas expressed his thoughts on playing in front of a packed stadium and his team's chances of victory:
"Of course, playing in front of full stands is a pleasure for us. The fans do everything they can and pass their energy on to us. I do not want to speak about the odds of winning. I am more interested in my team's performance. Small details matter. The main thing is to stay focused."
