Bernardo Silva Makes History at Real Madrid
Real Madrid player Bernardo Silva has set a new record by scoring his first UEFA Champions League goal for the club.
Operativ Media reports that the Portuguese midfielder opened the scoring in the 44th minute of the match against Leipzig in the third round of the tournament's main stage.
By scoring his first Champions League goal for Real Madrid at the age of 32 years and 72 days, Bernardo Silva made history as the oldest foreign player to achieve this feat.
The previous record was held by Ruud van Nistelrooy. The Dutch forward scored his first Champions League goal for the Madrid club at 30 years and 87 days old in a September 2006 match against Dynamo Kyiv.
Bernardo Silva joined the Spanish giants as a free agent from Manchester City last summer. The Portuguese footballer scored his first goal for his new club in his ninth match.
