First meeting of Mecca Strategic Political and Defense Committee to be held in Istanbul
The first meeting of the Strategic Political and Defense Committee, established under the Mecca Joint Defense Agreement signed between Turkey, Pakistan, and Saudi Arabia on August 7, 2026, will be held in Istanbul tomorrow.
Operativ Media reports that Turkey will be represented at the meeting by Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and National Defense Minister General Selcuk Bayraktaroglu; Pakistan by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Federal Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif, and Commander of the Defense Forces and Land Forces Marshal Syed Asim Munir; and Saudi Arabia by Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and Chief of General Staff General Fayyadh bin Hamed Al-Ruwaili.
The meeting will focus on regional and international security, defense industry cooperation, joint production and scientific research, enhancing military interoperability, and the fight against terrorism.
Under the Mecca Agreement, an attack against one of the parties is considered an attack against all. The agreement also aims to strengthen joint deterrence capabilities.
