Atletico approves Julian Alvarez's transfer to Barcelona
Atletico Madrid has officially given written permission for Argentine forward Julian Alvarez to transfer to Barcelona.
Operativ Media reports, citing El Chiringuito, that the Spanish club has formalized this consent in writing. The 26-year-old forward had previously announced his desire to leave the team, despite his contract running until 2030.
According to local media, the Catalan club is ready to pay €130 million for the forward's transfer. The player, who missed training last week and was left out of the squad for the 3-1 La Liga match against Sevilla, rejoined the main group on Sunday.
Alvarez scored 20 goals in 49 appearances for Atletico last season. The forward, who has scored 15 goals in 58 appearances for the Argentina national team, is a 2022 World Cup champion and a Copa America winner in 2021 and 2024.
