The recent surge in baseless, biased claims and social media posts in Turkey that fall outside legal, diplomatic, and ethical frameworks, aiming to damage Azerbaijan-Turkey brotherly relations and shape a negative public perception, is causing natural concern in our society.

Operativ Media reports that the Media and Broadcasting Council has issued a statement on the matter.

The statement reads:

"Considering the high level of relations and mutual trust between the two brotherly nations, we find it regrettable and unacceptable that smear campaigns against Azerbaijan have become continuous, with only short intervals, and that biased claims and disinformation are spread so easily without any measures being taken against them.

These posts are not random individual initiatives, but part of a targeted campaign managed by certain circles, carried out through coordination and a unified approach. Such actions not only violate legal and ethical boundaries but also contradict the legislation of the Republic of Turkey. We believe that, as in other relevant cases, a sensitive approach and the enforcement of legal requirements should also be applied regarding Azerbaijan.

The Azerbaijani side is closely monitoring the developments in the Turkish media and social media space. Taking appropriate legal measures, including considering restricting entry into our country for the organizers and executors of this smear campaign, is not ruled out.

Our public considers it unacceptable to give ground to those seeking to undermine the historical, political, and spiritual bonds, mutual trust, and strategic alliance established between the two states and peoples, and expects practical steps to be taken to prevent such attempts."
