Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has resigned ahead of snap parliamentary elections, where he will run as the ruling Serbian Progressive Party's (SNS) candidate for prime minister.

Operativ Media reports, citing Euractiv.

Outgoing parliament speaker and senior National Security Service official Ana Brnabic will temporarily serve as acting president.

Under Serbian law, presidential elections must be held within three months of the president's resignation.
